So I was looking around these old boxes in the basement of the library at Common Nations U, and I found these old tapes. They are an old radio show from the 1930’s called The Adventures of Lord Dinby Whitherspoon: Duke of Space. The tapes are not in great shape, so I’m going to get them transferred to digital, and have my friend Maggie help restore the voices with some actors we know and this software she has. They are really different from anything I’ve listened to before, so I thought other people might find them interesting. Anyway, I hope to have the first one up by July 21, 2014. Let me know what you think of them!
Welcome to 2016. For the past five years the world has become an increasingly unstable place. The threat of war between China and the USA had loomed heavily over the rest of the world. Britain, now a small, insignificant and bankrupt nation, initially, as always, had sided with the USA. But relations quickly broke down beyond repair between the two nations, leaving the UK an isolated and unimportant outcast in world diplomacy.
Rumours of an emergency radio broadcast promising help, information, food and water in the centre of every city sees millions of people on the move as they try to head for safety, hoping that the crisis may be at an end.
In reality, nothing can be further from the truth. In a car park, half way up Falkland Hill in Fife, a group of people who fled from the riot stricken towns below watch out over the river Forth in horror as Edinburgh is blitzed by a missile attack from the sky. The lucky ones are killed by the blasts, but anyone else close enough is subjected to the chemicals unleashed by the explosions. A devastating chemical attack turns ordinary people into bloodthirsty savages, and Scotland as we know it, changes forever.
And now… this is the Aftermath.
A plague has ravaged the Earth and changed the world as we know it. Millions upon millions have been transformed into flesh-eating zombies that roam the Earth with an unquenchable thirst for the living. Those fortunate enough not to have been infected are in a fight for their lives. Spread out across the globe… small groups struggle each day to see the next. One such group of survivors are trying to reach out to anyone who’s still alive… They live in… the Age of the Zombies.
Farloria’s Royal Physician has her work cut out for her. Unfortunately, that help is from Magnus, a troublesome young ex-monk and aspiring surgeon, and Holly, an accident-prone fairy herbalist.

…is a post-apocalyptic audio drama podcast of our times. 15 years have passed since a traumatic undoing of society called “The Breaking.” We follow two interlocking stories – one, of THE REFUGE, where Maria and Luke, sister and adopted brother, grow up in a hardscrabble life of subsistence farming and homemade solar and wind powered tools. Their life is interrupted when John Prophet, a ghost from their parents’ past, comes riding in one fine afternoon.
Prophet comes because far away, in THE REPUBLIC, a new force is rising – a force from across the ocean bearing military might and an iron fist. This new regime promises to subjugate what scraps of freedom are left in this fallen land. And in their wake, a more ominous shadow grows…

Even though we’re a little short to be a stormtrooper, Earbud Theater is here to rescue you. In spite of the volume and hugeness of popular entertainment, only a small percent of it ever truly engages your imagination. By nature of our format, you’re already part of the story – „It’s all in your head.“ We come from a background in big studio feature films, you know, those multi-million dollar movies created by committee, so the desire to break free of institutional storytelling limits could not have been bigger, and so we are: here.
Here we are unconstrained, no one tells us what do and there are no rules to be followed. Which means the story exists unencumbered and free to have its way with you. We are unshackled by budget, demographic studies, a boss, his boss and his boss‘ faulty magic 8-ball. We don’t have to bow to market research, focus groups, test audiences, brand managment, corporate morality, corporate amorality, or the vicious Albino Gnomes of B’hiel Rhey’ya who… well, it’s best if you don’t know what they’re up to. You need your sleep.
But the question wasn’t about gnomes. It was about Earbud Theater. What is it?
Earbud theater is here to rescue you from „there’s nothing on tv“ even though there are nine thousand channels from which to choose. Earbud Theater is here to rescue you from the summer blockbusters that have you leaving the theater so unfulfilled. Most of all – Earbud Theater is here to rescue you from what you think you know… and give you a chance to participate along the way…

Like any boy of the radio era, Leonard Allen dreamed of hitting big in New York and Hollywood; to write or host that one big show that would make everyone notice. Even after he had his chance at both, that dream still burns inside him. He’s always been able to spark the divine somewhere in his work. And he’s been noticed.
He doesn’t know the lengths people will go to take advantage of such gifts. So when the mysterious David Lewis asked him finish his classic radio drama “After Dark” after a half-century, Len didn’t realize it wasn’t as simple as that. The truth is that Lewis served a more powerful entity than even public opinion: the goddess Inanna, Sumerian patron of love and war both.
Sometimes, a god wants a sacrifice. Sometimes, a god wants praise and devotion. But the most fickle, and the most dangerous, are those who demand a show.
Centuries from now, technology has grown advanced beyond the point of contemporary explanation. Nanotechnology, including sophisticated nanorobotics, are common, and swarm intelligences maintain structures, roads, act as security for government installations, monitor foot traffic in commercial areas to feed targeted advertising engines, respond to medical emergencies, invisibly and seemingly magically. Thanks to advanced nanorobotic intelligence, it has also become possible to upload your consciousness into a simulated neural matrix. Those uploaded minds can even then be pruned and adjusted for purpose-built AIs, used for all sorts of applications where intelligence, but also obedience, or fearlessness, or any other traits are desired. Humans, though, generally do not regard this form of mind-upload as some prior-day trans-humanist might. For example, nobody really believes that it’s a way to achieve immortality. This belief is strengthened for many by the fact that the original individual goes on to exist after such an uploaded copy is made, therefore, the popular opinion is that only the original is authentic, and the copy is.. something else. Something less.
But are they really any less than human, especially when all of the original humans of planet Earth… are gone?

The Once And Future Nerd is a serial audioplay by CTM and ZAG. Our story is told as a series of audio podcasts, each approximately 20 minutes long, recorded by a full cast of actors. Episodes of the podcast are released every other week, on alternating Sundays. You can find the episodes here on onceandfuturenerd.com, as well as on iTunes, or via RSS. In addition, bonus content (perhaps artwork, lore and mythology, side stories, etc) will be released in between podcast episodes. You can find this bonus content ONLY here, so be sure to bookmark onceandfuturenerd.com!
The episodes are arranged into “chapters”. A chapter is usually comprised of 3-5 episodes of podcast, and contains a complete story arc. In fact, the story is both written and recorded in complete chapters, and only after divided into smaller parts. The chapters are further arranged into “Books”, which are of course longer-scale plot structures. If you prefer to think of it like a typical prime-time TV show, our “chapters” are hour-long tv episodes. The podcast episodes, or “parts,” are the individual bits between commercials. A “book” is like the season. (P.S., if you happen to have millions of dollars that you would like to throw at a couple guys with no professional writing credits, maybe you SHOULD think of it like a TV show, hint hint.)

For Army Reserve Soldier Michael Cross, the world as he knew it ended in an instant. One minute, he’s in college, and in the next, rioters are roaming the highway around him, breaking into cars, and literally tearing people apart. This is the day the dead walk. This is the world of We’re Alive.
We’re Alive: Features chapters packing performances and sound effects that rival movies and prove that modern audio drama is undead and well. Join our survivors as they band together, struggle to fortify a safe haven known as the Tower, and discovers that zombies are far from the worst thing in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles where the rules of human decency no longer apply.
