So I was looking around these old boxes in the basement of the library at Common Nations U, and I found these old tapes. They are an old radio show from the 1930’s called The Adventures of Lord Dinby Whitherspoon: Duke of Space. The tapes are not in great shape, so I’m going to get them transferred to digital, and have my friend Maggie help restore the voices with some actors we know and this software she has. They are really different from anything I’ve listened to before, so I thought other people might find them interesting. Anyway, I hope to have the first one up by July 21, 2014. Let me know what you think of them!

Desperate for help and companionship, Oppenheimer kidnaps Mike Wilkinson (Michael McQuilkin), IT guy by day and indie filmmaker by night. Together, Oppenheimer and Mike travel to mysterious and exotic timelines in their quest to repair the Hadron Rift and restore order to the multiverse. Oh, and to produce a podcast.

The story is centered around a hidden city called Leviathan that lies deep within the dark trenches of the Pacific Ocean. The city is home to a community of immortals that sought to create a utopia over 1,000 years ago. For a millennia, they lived in peace and secrecy, gently influencing world events to aid the advancement of mankind. But a terrible secret has been kept deep within the catacombs of Leviathan that threatens the existence of the immortals, and quite possibly the entire world.
Centuries from now, technology has grown advanced beyond the point of contemporary explanation. Nanotechnology, including sophisticated nanorobotics, are common, and swarm intelligences maintain structures, roads, act as security for government installations, monitor foot traffic in commercial areas to feed targeted advertising engines, respond to medical emergencies, invisibly and seemingly magically. Thanks to advanced nanorobotic intelligence, it has also become possible to upload your consciousness into a simulated neural matrix. Those uploaded minds can even then be pruned and adjusted for purpose-built AIs, used for all sorts of applications where intelligence, but also obedience, or fearlessness, or any other traits are desired. Humans, though, generally do not regard this form of mind-upload as some prior-day trans-humanist might. For example, nobody really believes that it’s a way to achieve immortality. This belief is strengthened for many by the fact that the original individual goes on to exist after such an uploaded copy is made, therefore, the popular opinion is that only the original is authentic, and the copy is.. something else. Something less.
But are they really any less than human, especially when all of the original humans of planet Earth… are gone?

Surprisingly his old friend from his college days has been recently hired by Bruto Enterprises and was selected to join the Captain’s crew.
The Once And Future Nerd is a serial audioplay by CTM and ZAG. Our story is told as a series of audio podcasts, each approximately 20 minutes long, recorded by a full cast of actors. Episodes of the podcast are released every other week, on alternating Sundays. You can find the episodes here on onceandfuturenerd.com, as well as on iTunes, or via RSS. In addition, bonus content (perhaps artwork, lore and mythology, side stories, etc) will be released in between podcast episodes. You can find this bonus content ONLY here, so be sure to bookmark onceandfuturenerd.com!
The episodes are arranged into “chapters”. A chapter is usually comprised of 3-5 episodes of podcast, and contains a complete story arc. In fact, the story is both written and recorded in complete chapters, and only after divided into smaller parts. The chapters are further arranged into “Books”, which are of course longer-scale plot structures. If you prefer to think of it like a typical prime-time TV show, our “chapters” are hour-long tv episodes. The podcast episodes, or “parts,” are the individual bits between commercials. A “book” is like the season. (P.S., if you happen to have millions of dollars that you would like to throw at a couple guys with no professional writing credits, maybe you SHOULD think of it like a TV show, hint hint.)
